Darek Davidson: Cutting Up
The Effortless Beauty of Mantorville Farms Cutting Boards
It started as a way to say thank you. Every time Darek Davidson and his company, By Design Builders, finished building or remodeling a kitchen they gave the customer two cutting boards to match the custom-made countertops.
“Building countertops is our specialty,” Darek said. “We have all these leftover pieces from the countertops, and I hate to throw them away.” So when he and his crew weren’t putting on roofs and giving kitchens a face-lift, the Mantorville Area, general contractor began making cutting boards from the leftover Corian. Corian is a solid surface material created by Dupont and used by Darek in many of the kitchens and baths he builds.
When the construction business was slow or he had a free moment on his hands, Darek made cutting boards. As Darek’s cutting board inventory grew, so did his imagination. He has made cutting boards in the shape of the state of Minnesota as well as created decorative cutting boards to be used as wedding cake trays. “I’ve engraved the couple’s names and date, so when they finish with the cake, they have a customized cutting board to use down the road.”
Now Darek and By Design Builders are making cutting boards for Mantorville Farms customers. We are offering rectangular cutting boards in two sizes: small (8 inches x 12 inches) and large (16 inches x 24 inches). All the cutting boards have a satin finish and are .5 inches thick.
Mantorville Farms cutting boards bring functional and effortless beauty to your home. They are easy to clean and commercial or restaurant grade USDA approved for food contact. They also are dishwasher safe as well as excellent for use on camping trips. Just ask Darek, who takes his family camping; he uses a Clorox wipe on his cutting boards to quickly clean and use again. Because Corian is nonporous, stains do not penetrate the surface and it resists the growth of mold, mildew, and bacteria.
Mantorville Farms cutting boards come in a variety of colors.
